“If I had influence with the good fairy who is supposed to preside over the christening of all children, I should ask that her gift to each child in the world be a sense of wonder so indestructible that it would last throughout life.”
— Rachel Carson
If there is a good fairy on the job for christening the new years as they are born, I’d ask that she put that sense of wonder into all of us this year, gently transforming some of the insanity of our culture with true awareness of the miracles forever blossoming around us, sprinkling a little fairy dust on all our doings so that every action is hallowed by our focused attention and contains the potential for joy, and gladdening all of our hearts in the process.
It’s 2010, y’all. How about that?
Yes…a sense of wonder would solve many of the world’s problems!
Or maybe help us see our problems as opportunities 🙂 Happy New Year, Karen! (I’m used to seeing you over at the other blog. Welcome!)

My pleasure, Lauren. And I thank you for your warm and gracious wishes!
So true – we coiuld use lots more of that everyday magic awareness in the world.
Happy New Year, Meredith!
You add to that magical quality afloat in the world, Talon. Happy New Year to you, too!
